Today, welcome guest blogger E.J. Hinze, a fellow author with Midnight Frost Books and a young author!
Hello! I’m E.J. Hinze, a new author with Midnight Frost Books. Let me take a second to thank Mac for inviting me to write a little guest blog here.
I guess I wanted to talk a bit about being a young author just starting out in the publishing world.
Being a new author to the publishing world isn’t easy; don’t get me wrong, I’ve read my fair share of hardships on the long road of publishing. Some choose to give up and others tough it out – whatever the case may be it was in good faith and backed up by a reason. But being a young author and knowing almost nothing about publishing and editing and promoting is quite a bit of a road block.
I knew from a young age writing was something I wanted my profession to be. Whether it was for a newspaper or dabbling in journalism I knew it was something I wanted to do. I was always writing, whether it was a fangirl based fan fiction or a short little blurb of a short story – I wrote quite a bit.
It wasn’t until I had entered a pitch session that my new publishing house, Midnight Frost Books, had hosted that I realized just how interesting the publishing road was and what a long process it is.
Balancing promoting and editing and all of those goodies on top of school work and extra activities for a nice college résumé is going to be a tough, I already know that. I had to give up a few things in order to do what I love, and that’s okay because the things I gave up I will always have with me and if one day I want to go back to it I can. But right now I have to get my priorities in a line, but at least I won’t have an abundance of free time like a majority of teens my age do.
I know that at a few points I will most likely be ready to toss the towel in or rip my hair out but those are just small road blocks to what I know I am capable of accomplishing in my career in writing. Heck, I’ve had times already where I regret going for this at such a young age but then I remember, this can only help me on my road to success and quite possibly lead me to my destination. I just have to give it my all and push through.
It’s all of what you make it, and I plan to make this road a heck of a good run.
I have a book coming out in December called “The Master Plan” which is the debut book to my series “The SS&E series”
I guess I should give you guys a little taste of what to expect in the book:
Avery Sterling is a detective trying to solve the murder of her Uncle Adrian. When her evidence is abruptly shut down by her co-workers, she decides to investigate the case on her own. When she meets Sebastian Broke an infuriating and smart-mouthed man, she is surprised to hear what he has to say about her uncle. He told her that he was a leader of a group called The Stelophidial Society; a group of men and women who are trained assassins and attempting to take over the world. Believing none of it, Avery begins to grow skeptical about Sebastian once she finds out he was the one who murdered her uncle. But is what Sebastian told Avery really true? Has Avery bitten off a bit more than she can chew?
Once again I would like to thank Mac for inviting me to do a short little guest blog and that’s about it. I hope you enjoyed my little speech.
You're welcome, and thanks for sharing about your book, E.J.! I'm looking forward to reading "The Master Plan" and getting in at the start of your series!
