Thinking about Memorial Day, I can't help but remember those members of my family who served in various wars. In the course of my genealogy research, I learned that my grandfather's Ohio unit served at the battle of Muesse-Argonnes, which saw some of the heaviest fighting of World War I. His unit actually had the last casualty of the war, who was wounded after the Nov. 11, 1918, armistice that ended the war. After my father's death, I was entrusted with a history of Grandpa's unit. I had always heard he had seen fierce fighting. I now know just how fierce it was. His flag is in my living room in a case, and I make sure we honor it on days such as this.
One of Midnight Frost's publishers, Ciara Lake, also had family serve in the military from Ohio in various wars over the years.
People who buy books at the Midnight Frost site, including my books there, this weekend can get 15 percent off. The offer doesn't apply to teasers sold there.
